David Marquez has over 30 years of professional experience in the theater and entertainment industry as Choreographer, Director and Writer. He has worked with some of the most influential people in show business including: Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Julie Andrews, Vanessa Williams, Chita Rivera, and the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes to name a few. He has choreographed and/or directed for Broadway, Off Broadway and television.
Broadway credits: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer starring Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) , The Gershwin's Fascinating Rhythm (AriZoni Award for Best Choreography in a Musical) starring movie star Patrick Wilson, Sara Ramirez (Grey's Anatomy) and Orfeh (Legally Blonde) and Stanley directed by Nicholas Hytner (Choreography Consultant). Other Broadway Credits: The 2012 Gypsy of the Year Competition, 2012 Easter Bonnet Competition, and the 1994 Gypsy of the Year Competition for which he won the Absolut® Theater Award as Best In Show for "Galileo" by The Indigo Girls.
Television: The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (CBS) and My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies at Carnegie Hall (PBS' Great Performances.) Workshops / Readings: The Billy Joel Project, In The Heights, Thoroughly Modern Millie. Off Broadway credits include: A Tribute To Alec Baldwin, The Great White Way (Conceiver), and Dance With Me: An Evening of Musical Theater Choreography and the Metro Mass Choir at Avery Fisher Hall (Lincoln Center).
Regional directing and choreography credits include: Ticket To Ride: The Ultimate Beatle's Experience (Shubert Theater, New Haven CN), Seussical! (Weston Playhouse), A Chorus Line (Lyric Theater of Oklahoma), Colors of the Season (Also Writer {The Galt House}), The House of Martin Guerre (The Goodman), Dreamland (Sharon Stage), Let's Do It! (Long Wharf), Godspell (Meadowbrook), and Glimpses of the Moon (MetroStage).
Upcoming projects include a new musical by Australian composer Craig Christie entitled Villainy and an Off Broadway musical based around 70's music. He is currently the writer, director and choreographer of shows for the Oceania Cruise Line through the Gary Musick Company. He has appeared in the Original Broadway Production of Kiss of the Spiderwoman as well as the films El Cantante and the documentary Every Little Step.
