Steve LaChance is an American dancer, choreographer, and teacher with a decades-long career. Born in the Philippines in 1961, he lives in Los Angeles, California, where he studied classical dance, jazz, and tap dance.
At fifteen, he was already working with Juliet Prowse. He participated in the famous musicals Dancin’ and All That Jazzby Bob Fosse. In Los Angeles, he appeared in numerous television shows and several films, including Breakin’, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and Dance Academy.
At the age of twenty-four, he moved to Italy, where his great talent and commanding presence quickly won over the television audience. He participated in the VI and IX editions of Fantastico, as well as in shows like Sandra e Raimondo Show, Stasera Lino, Serata d’Onore, La sai l’ultima?, and many other popular television programs, often performing alongside Heather Parisi. In 1991, he performed as a principal dancer at the Oscar ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
In addition to his success as a dancer, Steve LaChance also established himself as a choreographer and teacher, leading numerous courses and serving as a judge in national and international competitions. From 2001 to 2010, he was a teacher and choreographer on the TV show Amici by Maria De Filippi. He also choreographed the musical Footloose, the music video Occhi x Occhi by Anna Tatangelo, and various pas de deux on the program Uno Mattina In Famiglia on Rai Uno.
In 2008, Steve LaChance opened his school, Centro di Formazione alla Danza LaChance Ballet, in North Rome, which has since become a point of reference for many young dancers and musical performers. For many years, he has served as the Artistic Director of international events such as Europa in Danza and the LaChance Dance Competition.
In 2023, he opened LaChance Arts School, a Choreographic High School that quickly became a Private High School recognized by the Ministry of Education and Merit.
Maestro LaChance is a global artist who has contributed significantly to spreading the passion for dance worldwide. His career is an exemplary demonstration of talent, dedication, and passion for the art of dance.
